Details

Anno 1818: part of the side wall, some wooden beams and the stable windows. These are elements of the residential farmhouse at 5 Molenstraat in Megen that keep the stories of vruuger alive. Like the traces of the milk buckets, the brackets the cows were attached to and the smokehouse where meat was hung. Enthusiasts are in for a treat here.

Over time, of course, renovations caused stories to disappear, as the farm was used in different ways by different owners each time. But new stories have also been added, thanks in part to current residents Ton and Marjan. They have spent the past 50 (!) years turning it into a fine residence, with B&B and various surprises.

‘Walk-through house’
In the front part of the farmhouse – where all but the kitchen ceilings are high – Ton and Marjan live. Here you enter through a spacious entrance and then you can go in all directions. “It’s a ‘walk-through’ house,” Ton summarized. “You can go up and down the stairs in two places and all the rooms are connected. Marjan adds; “In addition, this house – partly because of the two walk-throughs upstairs – is extremely suitable for double occupancy such as for example for informal care.”

B&B
20 years ago, Ton and Marjan started the B&B in the back part of the house. Guests have access to 3 or possibly 4 themed rooms through their own entrance. They share the shower and toilet, and for common use there is a refrigerator and microwave oven. They can also use the spacious garden with several terraces and enjoy the tranquility there, thanks to the tall trees, and the view of the mill. There is plenty of parking on the property and a bike shed.

Beautiful Megen
Megen (municipality of Oss) is a rural fortified town with much history located on the Meuse River. The town is located in the triangle between Nijmegen, Eindhoven and Den Bosch, and these cities can be reached by car in +/- half an hour. Several LA biking and hiking trails run through the town and there are 2 still inhabited monasteries and 2 excellent restaurants within walking distance of the B&B. In addition, it is connected with two ferry services to the Gelderse Maasbommel and Appeltern recreational area the Golden Ham.
